Picking on Writers

May 26th, 2010 | By Sandi | Category: Just for Laughs

As a writer, part of keeping your sanity is being able to laugh at the funny side of writing and publishing. If you can’t poke fun at yourself and your profession, you’ll give yourself ulcers and gray hair very early on in your career.

So, to help you along, I’ve decided to poke a little fun at and pick on writers in general today(myself included.)

From Spreadsheet Jokes: Aspiring Writer

There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed a desire to become a great writer. When asked to define “great” he said:

“I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, wail, howl in pain, desperation, and anger!”

He now works for Microsoft, writing Excel error messages.

From Aha! Jokes, If Dr. Suess were a technical writer -

When the copy of your floppy’s getting sloppy on the disk, And the microcode instructions cause unnecessary risc, Then you have to flash your memory and you’ll want to RAM your ROM. Quickly turn off the computer and be sure to tell your mom!

And From Writer Unboxed, a comic from Inky Girl, Debbie Ridpath Ohi

Now that you’ve had yourself a few giggles, shut up and go get some writing done. The book ain’t gonna write itself, ya know. :)
